Our Journey in Animal Welfare

Growing up surrounded by cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and many other furry friends, it was not surprising that my sister and I ended up in animal-focused careers. For the past 8 years, Nikki and I have been in various animal-focused roles such as adoption coordinators, fosters, fundraisers, volunteer coordinators, and dog moms. We’ve spent countless hours fundraising, donating money and time, supporting, training, and adopting animals in need. With 3 foster fail dogs and plenty of foster guinea pigs, we know that there is no better feeling than being able to help an animal or those who care for them.

The Challenges of Rescue

Working in animal welfare is incredibly rewarding, but there’s always another animal in need. Rescue is a never-ending cycle of providing medical care, training, problem-solving, and finding foster or adoptive homes. The needs are constant. With so much time and energy spent on these immediate demands, there’s often little left for fundraising or developing programs.

The Spark Behind Trusted Rescue

With our experience and passion for helping, we thought that there had to be a better way to do this. How can we help animals and set them up for success — rather than begging for last-minute donations, having shelters make euthanasia decisions for healthy animals, and leaving adopters to navigate unexpected challenges on their own after bringing a pet home?
Timing happened to be on our side as our fellow co-founder and loving dad, Scott, was working on his next entrepreneurship project. He was toying with a way to connect donors and the rainforest for conservation efforts. This sparked our interest, as the desire to engage donors more intimately in the process of rescuing animals was one of our main objectives. Along with updating the way rescues use technology to help their cause. In hearing of Scott's new business idea, we suggested directing his innovative approach towards animal rescue.

Building a Better Future for Rescue

After some planning, meetings, strategy changes, and many, many more meetings, we put together the idea for Trusted Rescue — a platform designed to connect animal rescues and passionate donors. Trusted Rescue is built to offer rescues user-friendly fundraising tools and access to pet industry resources, while giving donors a transparent, engaging view into the rescue world.
Our platform is still in its early stages, fully funded by us through our other jobs, ensuring that every dollar donated goes directly to animals and the rescuers who care for them. We plan to make Trusted Rescue self-sustaining by using outside funding sources, such as advertising and partnerships, to cover operational costs, ensuring that all donations remain focused solely on helping animals. We're committed to partnering with trusted companies that share our values and prioritize pets’ wellbeing, so you can be confident that everything we promote aligns with our commitment to animal welfare.
Beyond funding and transparency, we want Trusted Rescue to be an educational hub—sharing insights on rescue, animal caregiving, and helpful insights. Our goal is to build a community that not only supports rescue but truly understands it, creating a lasting impact on animals in rescue, foster care, and even your own home.
Helping animals has shaped our lives, and we’ve spent years dedicated to this work—and will continue to. We know so many of you feel the same. That’s why we believe Trusted Rescue can help transform the animal rescue industry, creating more support, more resources, and more people to help. Together, we can do more for the animals we love and the rescues working tirelessly to save them. Whether you follow along, donate, or share our mission, you’re part of this change. And we’re so grateful to have you with us.
